Attorney Jonathan Kaplan graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2005, where he was Associate Editor of the Connecticut Public Interest Law Journal, and the recipient of awards in Secured Transactions and Legislative Clerkship. He received his B.A. from Cornell University where he majored in Government and attended Universite de Paris VI-Jussieu during a semester abroad.
Attorney Kaplan has returned to Connecticut after working in New York City at Lowenstein Sandler PC, where he focused his practice on bankruptcy and commercial litigation. He represented Remedial Cyprus PCL in its chapter 11 bankruptcy case and successfully confirmed the company’s plan of liquidation, after having sold the bulk of the companies’ assets, valued at approximately $300 million, to the company’s secured lender. He also assisted in the drafting of the Seller’s Remedy Manual, a primer for creditors as customers default and when customers file for bankruptcy. Topics covered include pre-bankruptcy state law rights under the Uniform Commercial Code and assumption of contracts in bankruptcy. Attorney Kaplan previously worked at a boutique bankruptcy and commercial litigation in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
He is admitted to the Connecticut bar, and his admission to the New York bar ( Southern District of New York) is pending.
Attorney Kaplan manages the Commercial Litigation and the Bankruptcy Departments at Martha Croog, LLC. He also practices in the Foreclosure and REO Departments at the Firm.
